Children of Madaifu’s apples are back and this year they are organic!
For the 12th consecutive year, you are organising the now famous Children of Madaifu Apples Sale.
To join this event and participate, just order some apples! They come in 10 kg organic apple boxes for RMB 300 each.
All proceeds will go to our action for Children of Madaifu.

Congratulations Zhang Zhenghai!
Zhang Zhenghai, one of Children of Madaidu’s first supportees, received first place in the baguette and special breads category in the Lesaffre Cup Bakery Competition and will be traveling to Jakarta, Indonesia to compete in the Asia-wide competition in November 2015. Both us and Shanghai Young Bakers, who trained him and where he now teaches, were deligthed by this result!
Gilles Sabrié: On the kang, portraits from rural China
In March and April 2015, photographer Gilles Sabrié came back to the area where we work to shoot a series on the place the kang (a brick bed heated from underneath) has in Northern Chinese houses.

Prune Nourry back in Gansu
From March 12 to 14, Prune Nourry was once again with us in the field to meet up with the eight little girls who modelled for her “Terracotta Daughters” project.
She used this opportunity to show the girls the project’s making-of video and most importantly, give each of them their own statue.
Field trip – Chunjie 2015
Just before Chinese New Year, we visited the families of all the children we support, in both Gansu and Shaanxi, to bring them their quarterly allowance and the traditional seasonal gifts : rice,oil, sweets, and a hongbao! It is a great opportunity for us to spend more time with the families, share a bowl of noodles with them on the kang and get to know them better!

10 years’ worth of Christmas Apples !
This year, we are celebrating ten years of you helping the organization by eating apples in Beijing and Shanghai !!
They are already available in Shanghai and will arrive in Beijing on 21st November, in most schools and compounds.
To order some apples, contact your local Madaifu team right away and they will let you know where to get them.
The proceeds of this year’s anniversary event will not only help the organization continue its work with the 150 children it supports and Gansu and Shaanxi, but also contribute to better equip its new Bookmobile which has been touring the countryside since the Spring, allowing children to discover and trade literary classics, both Chinese and Western.
