Zhang Zhenghai, one of Children of Madaidu’s first supportees, received first place in the baguette and special breads category in the Lesaffre Cup Bakery Competition and will be traveling to Jakarta, Indonesia to compete in the Asia-wide competition in November 2015. From March 12 to 14, Prune Nourry was once again with us in the field to meet up with the eight little girls who modelled for her “Terracotta Daughters” project.
She used this opportunity to show the girls the project’s making-of video and most importantly, give each of them their own statue.
Just before Chinese New Year, we visited the families of all the children we support, in both Gansu and Shaanxi, to bring them their quarterly allowance and the traditional seasonal gifts : rice, oil, sweets, and a hongbao! It is a great opportunity for us to spend more time with the families, share a bowl of noodles with them on the kang and get to know them better!
