Two school libraries in Gansu

As part of their school year project, Y5 students from French school of Shanghai Pudong have decided to support the Children of Madaifu. They have organized several fund raising actions along the year (making and selling Christmas greeting cards, organizing a bakery sale…), and have collected close to 5 500 RMB.

The proceeds have been used to create two libraries: one in Zhangba school in Linyou County and the other one in Gangu Yao Ya school, where 4 children of Madaifu are attending school.

This project has involved the directors of the two schools. A very big thank you to the Y5 students, their teachers for their very active involvement and all the parents who have supported these actions!

Madaifu Party in Shanghai, 2nd edition – 26th May 2012

Thanks a lot to everyone for this great party which allows the association to raise nearly 10.000 RMB for the Children of Madaifu: having great fun while lend a helping hand to the children… what a fantastic opportunity!

Charity Fundraiser Book Sale, April 16 2012

The now famous and popular annual Charity Fundraiser Book Sale took place at the Pudong campus, organized by the parent association (BDA) in collaboration with the charity association Les Enfants de Madaifu.

Thanks to the generosity of the school community, as well as many other outside donors, about 2000 books had been collected, in various languages (French, English, Chinese but also German, Spanish, etc!)
On the day of the charity book sale, Saturday 14th of April 2012, a lot of children and adults were happily shopping for books, going home with piles of new readings.
100% of the funds raised from the book sale has been given by the BDA to the charity organization Les Enfants de Madaifu, that is, a 20 695 RMB donation.

Les Enfants de Madaifu would like to thank warmly the BDA for his support and his incredible involvement all along this event.
Thank you again to everyone who participated, donating and/or buying books – you made this fundraiser a success!
See you next year for the next Book Fair!

Ultraviolet “Table 0” and the Children of Madaifu

Conceived by Paul Pairet for over 15 years, Ultraviolet is the first restaurant of its kind attempting to unite food with multi-sensorial technologies in order to create a fully immersive dining experience.

The whole evening is a dramatic sensory play and the ten diners, entertained by a cast of 25 chefs and waiters, are made to feel like both the stars of the play and highly entertained audience members. www.uvbypp.cc

This ultra high concept restaurant, part of VOL Group (the group behind Bar Rouge and Mr&Mrs Bund) has opened on Friday 18th of May 2012. For this very special night, Paul Pairet had decided to unveil the restaurant in a super-exclusive engagement: he auctioned off Ultraviolet’s inaugural dinner to a select group of VIPs and he chose to give the proceeds to The Children of Madaifu.

The company Sennheiser who won the auction has thus donated 46.000 RMB that were symbolically given from the hands of its President for China, Marc Vincent (see photo).  One of the guests, Frank Bussalb, Chairman of MediaMarkt China, made a personal donation of 13.200 RMB to the Children of Madaifu. A big thank you to these generous donators and to Ultraviolet!

A big THANK YOU to Evergreen!

The Children of Madaifu would like to warmly thank Evergreen for its strong support: many entities of the group have supported our action by offering Madaifu apples to their employees, several events have been organized to present our association and employees have also generously contributed.

Moreover, for every greeting card sent to their customers, Evergreen will donate a contribution to the Children of Madaifu.

A big THANK YOU to  Evergreen!

Shanghai Young Bakers, December 04 2011

Shanghai Young Bakers (SYB) provides a fully-sponsored French bakery training to disadvantaged Chinese youth (aged 17-23), enabling to find qualified jobs and lead independent lives after graduation.
Every year, one or several students supported by the Children of Madaifu join SYB program.
On Saturday 4th of December, the Christmas afternoon of the Cercle Francophone was the opportunity to reunite SYB and Children of Madaifu, using Madaifu’s charity apples to bake an original “Chausson aux pommes” (kind of apple danish) for sell as a Christmas cake. Thanks to Shanghai United Hospital sponsorship, the delicious pastries were offered to every child (and parent!). A wonderful action much to the delight of all gourmets!
